Welcome Cocktail

Clarion Congress Hotel Prague
Welcome Cocktail will be offered in the hotel foyer to all delegates and accompanying persons. Typical Czech snacks and Moravian wine will be served by musical accompaniment of traditional Moravian folklore band.

Grand Tour of Prague
Tuesday, September 8, 9:00 – 13:00
Included in Accompanying Persons registration fee; please kindly note THIS IS A WALKING TOUR!
Includes A/C coach transfer from the Clarion Congress Hotel Prague to the Prague Castle and from the city centre back to the hotel; English speaking guide.
Duration: 3,5 - 4 hours
All participants of the tour are kindly asked to meet at the registration area in the Clarion Congress Hotel 15 minutes before scheduled time, ie. at 08:45.

This insightful historical tour lets you enjoy the city’s most famous sights. The tour starts at Prague Castle (Hradcany), registered as the biggest castle complex in the world. It established itself as the spiritual centre of the Bohemian sovereigns from the 9th century and since 1918 (foundation of Czechoslovakia) it has served as the residence of presidents. A visit to St. Vitus Cathedral is included. The tour then follows the “Royal Route”, the former promenade of kings and part of the official coronation by foot. Winding down to Lesser Town and picturesque Kampa Island you will cross the famous Charles Bridge and continue to discover remarkable monuments in the Old Town area. This remarkable journey ends in front of the Old Town City Hall with its extraordinary astronomical clock.
If delegates wish to attend: price: €37 per person (payment required upon reservation; cancellation possible until August 28, 2009, after this date no refund will be made). On-site requests are welcome but cannot be guaranteed.

Address: Zofin, Slovanský ostrov 226, Prague 1 (metro station Narodni – line B, same as Clarion CHP; 10 minute walk from the metro stop to Zofin).
Transportation is not provided.

Not included in category D (PhD Students) registration fee: additional cost of € 105,- per person (payment is required upon reservation; refund less € 20 administrative fee will be made if request is cancelled until August 7, 2009; after this date no refund will be made).

The Zofin Palace is a wonderful neo-renaissance palace located on the most beautiful island in Prague “Slovanský ostrov”. It has been a leading centre of cultural and social life in Prague since 1837. The historical grace of the Great Hall where our dinner will be held will amaze even the most exacting clientele at the receptions, balls, concerts, or congresses.

Technical Visit in Nuclear Research Institute Rez
Thursday, September 10, afternoon (12:00 – 17:00)
For Delegates only; included in registration fee; please kindly note number of possible participants is limited.
Bus to the NRI will leave just after the sessions concluded at about mid-day. Afternoon visit shall include both the professional introduction by local representative and visit to the most interesting parts of the institute including one of the reactors.

Visit in Nuclear Power Plant Temelin

Cost: € 98,- per person
Delegates: please kindly note that either a visit in NPP Temelín or visit of the Hluboká Castle can be done; not both.
The above trips include A/C coach transfer from the Clarion Congress Hotel Prague to South Bohemia (Hluboká NNP Temelín) and back; lunch in a local restaurant, English speaking guide.

Hluboká nad Vltavou:
This grand residence of the Schwarzenberg princes is the most valuable example of romantic Historicism in Czech chateau architecture. A monumental Romantic chateau; originally a Gothic castle, remodeled in the Baroque style suting the first half of the 18th century. It underwent a significant transformation in the 19th century when it was remodeled in the English Windsor-style Gothic into the official seat of the Schwarzenberg dynasty. The complex includes a glassed-in winter garden, a riding hall, an English park (area: 190 hectares), and a chapel. Sumptuously furnished period interiors feature unique woodcarvings a valuable collections. The riding hall houses an exhibition by the South Bohemian Gallery (South-Bohemian Gothic art, Dutch art of the 16th-18th centuries, 20th-century Czech art), seasonal exhibitions. The Czech nobleman a political figure Záviš of Falkenštejn was executed in front of the original castle in 1290.
